It has been
reported that Apple, the famous iPhone manufacturer, plans to launch the new AI
models to work in the iOS system and additional features, including new
figures, emoji, and the renowned personal assistant app known as Siri.
Bloomberg
reported on the news on Sunday stating it was informed by insiders. Most of
these innovations will be possibly announced at the Apple’s WWDC 2024
developers conference next month. It should be noted that these upgrades will
probably be revealed alongside other recently released AI features.
Usually, Apple
released a couple of dozen emojis every year, but starting from 2016, it began
to release much more of them. At the WWDC conference, it is scheduled that the
company will announce an AI application for creating emojis based on language
commands. As for the specific apps that will support this feature, that is
still ambiguous here.
Users may also
be capable of giving these customized emojis some life in the future or in
later versions of the application. Unique to February, Apple researchers
showcased Keyframe, an ML tool to animate images on the command of the user,
thanks to Large Language Models interpreting and executing the command.
Moreover, there
are artistic visions of how iOS will improve app icon presentation beyond the
emoji enhancements. As to updates, users are said to be given the rights to
customize their icon colours as well as the freedom of placing icons on the
home screen instead of the current style of being placed in a fixed grid
format.
Siri is the
other major concern of the future iOS update. Apple plans an expansion of
Siri’s functionality for users of Apple Watch and to train this assistant
in-house developed large language models. Likewise, Amazon has plans to enhance
Alexa to support the development of user-defined LLMs to improve the
experience.
Some of the AI
features in the new iOS18 are as follows: Information about the brains of these
AI features in new iOS 18 is still scarce. According to Bloomberg, the future
smartphones will work as a hub for these models, while computations that demand
more processing power will be handled in the cloud.
In April, Apple
published to the public several small language models developed for the
low-performance devices and a tool to apply them to iPhones. Many of these
technologies may help underpin some of the AI improvements to be found in iOS
18.
It is said that
some of the features in iOS 18 will be using OpenAI models to take advantage of
the cutting-edge AI system. Apple plans to publicly reveal a long-rumored
link-up with the LLM manufacturer at WWDC, according to Bloomberg. According to
the latest report that discussed the rumours of Apple working with the social
networking giant, the two companies could come up with a new chatbot service,
as well as new search tools for the iOS.
